This fine artisanal French liqueur is made from 100 per cent fresh handpicked Elderflowers, picked fresh from the Alps during a two to three week period each year. The blossoms are macerated using a special process known only to the producer, then blended with eau–de–vie, cane sugar and hint of citrus to enhance their natural flavour. The refined liqueur delivers a clean floral nose with hints of pear, peach and grapefruit zest, perfect with champagne or a variety of cocktails.
Just a splash of St. Germain in a chilled glass of Champagne is the perfect thing to enjoy at sunset on a warm summer evening!
Here are two more recipes I like with St. Germain…
The Cucumber Cooler
Light drinks don’t have to be sweet or fruity, as this cucumber-mint cocktail proves. The St-Germain adds just the right element to the cucumber and mint. This Summer Cocktail is a keeper!
Instructions: In a cocktail shaker, muddle about three cucumber slices. Add five to eight fresh mint leaves, an ounce of lime juice, an ounce of St-Germain and an ounce and a half of vodka. Add ice, shake and strain into a tall glass over fresh ice. Add a splash of club soda on top. Garnish with more cucumber and mint.
