Anyone who knows me well knows that I have loved seahorses since I was a young girl when my very first life jacket had a cute little seahorse pocket on it which I would collect my tiny shells from the beach. I still remember carefully stuffing all my sea treasures into the little seahourse pocket. It’s one of my earliest memories and thus began the love of all things seahorse!!

Who says white jeans after Labor Day is a faux pas?! I disagree. White jeans look amazing in the Spring and Summer as they add a nice crisp white base to your florals, pastels, bold colors of the season like watermelon and dreamy aqua blue, clean navy, but you can definitely transition your white jeans into Fall and Winter too, it’s just about how you style them!

Transitional Wardrobe Staples
I’m a summer girl, sun worshiper, beach lover, ocean inspired, flip flop wearer. I don’t share all the enthusiasm for Fall. Don’t get me wrong, I love colorful leaves, crisp days, firepits, football, tailgating, open windows, apples and everything pumpkin as much as the next person, but it happens unfortunately to come after my favorite of all seasons, summer!
Ahhh, summer…care-free days, warm sand, blue sparkling waters, pool parties, Jack Rogers, white jeans, cookouts, fresh fruit & veggies, boating, iced coffee, outdoor concerts, s’mores, vacations, cold Rosé, brilliant pink sunsets, and long wide open days that stretch before you like a gift. It’s hard for me to let go!!
So at the hint of colder weather, the first sign of dried leaves on the ground or color starting up in the trees, my heart skips a beat and my mood sinks a bit despite myself. I know soon I’ll be burning my apple candles and baking pumpkin bread, wearing sweaters, jeans and boots, going on mountain hikes with trees in full color and I will be happy and summer will feel far away.
But until then, we have this TRANSITIONAL period where it’s hard to know what to wear. Getting dressed in the morning becomes a little more daunting this time of year…summer has winded down, but cooler temperatures have yet to set in. You can’t break out your heavy stuff, but you can’t keep wearing white jeans and summer tunics either. The trick is to invest in staples that can be worn on their own or layered.

I was lucky enough to have a chance to visit this showcase home this summer with my mother. It was blue & white heaven! We spent time lingering in every room imagining living there ourselves and also critiquing our favorite of the blues & whites.

THE SKINNY ON JEANS!
I often get asked what are my favorite jeans? I cannot pick just one. And I’d have to go shopping with you to tell you what works for you. Go to Nordstrom or Bloomingdales (in Manhattan – best jeans dept. I’ve ever seen) and try on everything…may be exhausting, but you will find your perfect jean.
Some of these retail for quite a bit, but you can often find them at Marshalls or Nordstrom Rack. Always try them on and remember they stretch so buy them on the snug side knowing they will stretch to you…
Right now I’m loving Joe’s and AEO because they fit me perfectly, (mid-rise/straight leg) are comfortable and flattering. They both have a bit a stretch and are soft – two things I look for. But, I have many favorites – here are a few:
