Let’s face it…no one looks forward to cleaning, but the results of a good Spring Clean are always worth the effort and you will love coming home to your new fresh house!
My Tips to Success:
- Don’t try to do the whole project at one time. You can do it in steps when you have the time so break down those chores.
- Do Delegate! Get the family involved…assign tasks.
- Don’t feel overwhelmed…you got this!
- Do START today. So easy to procrastinate, but once you start you’ll feel good and want to finish the job. Beginning is always the hard part.
Let’s Break It Down…
Let it shine
Dust those lamps, chandeliers, hanging lights, etc. Everything will shine brighter. My favorite tool for this job is the Swifter Duster
Feel the Breeze
Clean those ceiling fans and a/c vents. My favorite tool for this is Dryer Sheets. Why dryer sheets? Dust sticks to them easily and it leaves a fresh clean scent behind.
It’s Magic!
Time to go around room to room and clean up those walls, doors, light switches….any place where there are water stains, fingerprints, dirt, etc. and wipe them super clean. What do I use for this job? Yes, the Magic Eraser.
- The Mr. Clean Magic Eraser is a Powerful Clean with Water Alone.
- The magic sponge’s microscrubbers lift and remove dirt all around your home.
- No Harsh chemicals added.
Multi-Tasking
While you are on your hands and knees getting your baseboards clean with the Magic Eraser, you can be deep cleaning your kitchen.
Clean and freshen your garbage disposal with PLINK…I love these amazing little beads that do a phenomenal job – long lasting fresh you can smell.
And cleaning those tough, baked on oven stains with Easy Off Fume Free Oven Cleaner in lemon fresh.
Open those windows
It’s getting warmer and we want to open our windows and let the air flow through. Follow these steps to enjoy the open window weather…
- Dust the wooden plantation shutters & blinds
- Launder the curtains
- Scrub the window sill
- Polish the glass
Don’t Underestimate a Good Night’s Sleep
Gather all those throw blankets, quilts and comforters and get them spring clean…
My favorite detergent for clean smelling and super soft clothes is Tide with Downy –
Nothing is better than washing those winter blankets, sealing them up and storing them for next year all clean & fresh.
Loose Change
Lift up all those sofa cushions and give them a good vacuum and fluff. You might also find enough money for a Starbucks run – you deserve a break.
My vacuum – The Dyson Multi Floor Bagless Vacuum. I love this vacuum – it’s lightweight, easy to use, cleans all my floors really well, powerful, easy to store and has all the bells and whistles. And, it’s affordable = $199 at Lowes on clearance!
First Impressions
The entry of your home is like a first impression. Here’s what you need to do to make it a good one:
- Sweep off all the leftover leaves and cobwebs
- Shake & spray off your front mat (buy a new one if it’s worn or cannot be cleaned up)
- Wash that pollen off your front door and handle
- Plant some fresh flowers in your outdoor planters.
Wow…welcome home indeed!
