artists, graduates of top-notch design schools. The thought, care and skill that goes into each bag is evident.
We carefully select and cut sails, taking into account unique stitching details, grommet holes and, occasionally,
treasures like tell-tales. Each sail panel is completely unique. We hand-splice the rope handles.
And skilled stitchers finish the bags with great care.

Over the past 15 years, we’ve saved over 500 tons of material from going into landfills.

 

 

From Provincetown to Nantucket, this recycled sail nautical chart bucket bag is a practical and modern take on the basket:
creative customers continue to invent new uses for them, from apple picking pails to hand towel holders to centerpieces that
display plants and flowers

The ocean-worn texture of wooden piers inspired this design featuring the ports and locations of each Sea Bags store. Designed

Happy Mother’s Day!

In honor of Mom’s Day…my daily obsession is what I thought was my own concoction, but evidently it’s a thing –

The key to mine is good ingredients…use Fresh Squeezed Florida OJ, good Champagne, and of course Haagen Dazs Vanilla Bean Ice Cream. I like to use a wine glass (need room for the ice cream!),add a scoop of ice cream, then desired amount of freshly squeezed OJ, and finally top off with Champagne.

Flaxseed

This may not seem like an exciting or glamorous daily obsession, but the fact is that this is a healthy daily obsession of mine that I wanted to share. These tiny seeds are the richest source of omega-3 fatty acids. Flax seed may help lower cholesterol levels. It can also help control blood sugar, reduce constipation, lower high blood pressure, and lower risk for colorectal cancer.  Several studies have found that flaxseed has the potential to reduce the risk of heart disease, cancer, and stroke. It can also improve digestion, complexion, and hormone levels.

Flax seed has a legitimate claim as a superfood because of its high nutrient content. In addition, it has health benefits that are supported with a fair amount of scientific evidence. Flax seed may be used as whole seeds, ground, or as flaxseed oil, but I like the ground flax seed the best. You can add flax seed to smoothies and soups, or sprinkle ground or whole seeds on salads or cereal or even bake with it.

Summer is just around the corner and 
Frosé 
(Frozen Rosé) Is the new

Hot Drink!

Rosé 

 Wine….It’s a thing.

Want to “chill out” on a sultry summer night? Prefer a chilly glass of rosé? Or a fruity frozen drink? Why chose just one!

Frosé—A.K.A. frozen rosé—has emerged as the “it” drink of the summer which will be here before we know it.  It’s popping up on trendy cocktail menus from coast to coast. This pretty, pink treat is refreshing & delicious.  I have two different recipes below…try them both to find out your favorite!  I like to garnish with mint and a pink straw

(of course)…

INGREDIENTS

1. 1(750 ml.) bottle of dry rosé

2. 10ounces fresh strawberries (about 2 cups, sliced), plus more for garnish (optional)

3. 1tablespoon granulated sugar

4. ¼cup vodka

5. 2tablespoons grenadine

DIRECTIONS

1. Pour the rosé into ice cube trays and freeze until solid, 8 hours or overnight.
2. Combine the strawberries and the sugar in the bowl of a blender and let sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes, until the berries begin to release their juices.
3. Add the vodka, grenadine, and rosé cubes. Blend the mixture on high until smooth. Pour into glasses and garnish with strawberries, if desired.

INGREDIENTS

• 1 750 ml bottle hearty, bold rosé (such as a Pinot Noir or Merlot rosé)
• ½ cup sugar
• ½ cup water
• 8 ounces strawberries, hulled, quartered
• 2½ ounces fresh lemon juice

DIRECTIONS

 Pour rosé into a 13×9″ pan and freeze until almost solid (it won’t completely solidify due to the alcohol), at least 6 hours.

Meanwhile, bring sugar and water to a boil in a medium saucepan; cook, stirring constantly, until sugar dissolves, about 3 minutes. Add strawberries, remove from heat, and let sit 30 minutes to infuse syrup with strawberry flavor. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a small bowl (do not press on solids); cover and chill until cold, about 30 minutes.

Scrape rosé into a blender. Add lemon juice, 3½ ounces strawberry syrup, and 1 cup crushed ice and purée until smooth. Transfer blender jar to freezer and freeze until frosé is thickened (aim for milkshake consistency), 25–35 minutes.

Blend again until frosé is slushy. Divide among glasses.

“Chia” means strength, and folklore has it that these cultures used the tiny black and white seeds as an energy booster. That makes sense, as chia seeds are a concentrated food containing healthy omega-3 fatty acids, carbohydrates, protein, fiber, antioxidants, and calcium.  

Being rich in so many key nutrients, research has uncovered that regularly eating chia seed can improve your health in numerous ways. Some of the top chia seed benefits are: 
Digestive Health. Chia is super-high in fiber, and one serving can provide the recommended fiber intake for the day, according to the American Dietetic Association. Established in Northern Virginia over ten years ago by a coffee roaster and her son.  They soon began bagging coffee from their garage and offering free samples at local farmer’s markets.

Mason Jars

Today and tomorrow I will give you many different inspirations for MASON JARS…

Chances are you have some around or if not, it’s easy to pick them up very reasonably from grocery stores, Michaels, Walmart, even dollar stores.  I keep a rubber made container of these out in the garage to pull out when the inspirations hit me!

1 – Vases:
 especially perfect in the summer, on the porch or for outside entertaining…

With a little easy DIY spray paint the options are endless!

2 – Candles:
So pretty and practical…throw some sand in the bottom or shells for a summer look, cranberries for winter, conversation hearts for Valentines – be creative and have fun!

3 – Drinks:
Use Mason Jars for drinks…again, especially nice in the summer.  Refreshing, casual, classic and oh so fun to serve up your favorite drinks!

Is January too early to start anticipating summer?


WATERMELON MINT LEMONADE

INGREDIENTS

• 1 large watermelon (seedless), cut into chunks
• 1 cucumber, cut into chunks
• 1 cup fresh lemon juice, plus an additional lemon, sliced, for garnish
• ¼ cup packed mint leaves, plus more mint, for garnish
• 2½ cups white rum, vodka, or water
• ¼ cup agave syrup or simple syrup

DIRECTIONS

1. Put the chunked watermelon, cucumber, and mint in a blender, add the lemon juice, and puree until the mixture is smooth.
2. Strain the mixture into a pitcher to remove the pulp and leaves.
3. Mix in the alcohol or water and slowly mix in the syrup until everything is well-combined.
4. Add the lemon slices and ice. Garnish each glass with a sprig of mint. Serve.

4 – Containers/Storage: So many uses…store small craft items, special shells/stones from a trip, food (such as dry rice, sugar, snacks, etc.). school supplies, clothes pins, silverware storage, entertaining, etc.

Here’s another use that I find so helpful and was grateful when a friend suggested I do this….

Paint storage –  I took all the different paints we used around the house and stored them in small amounts in mason jars.  I labeled each with the paint name, and which room it belonged in. Now it’s easy to put your hands on the right paint and you’re ready to go with small touch-up jobs!

After 5 days on the island of St. Martin /or St. Maarten (the French side), I’m island inspired…island obsessed!  To start my “island” obsession off today, is one of my favorite summer stores to visit in Watch Hill, RI  –

THREE ISLANDS.

On my recent trip to St. Martin, I had a few of their light-weight, soft and easy to wear shift dresses, a cover-up and this a must have patchwork bag which gives you a sample of their many summer inspired fabrics, packs flat and easy to wash.  I do not see these bags on the website right now, but I’m sure they’ll be back. The best way to shop Three Islands is by going to the actual shop in Watch Hill.  Step into the breezy white washed room with it’s painted white wood floors (which they are constantly sweeping the sand from…one of the reminders you are at the beach!) and pops of bright colorful clothes …watermelon, coral, navy, hibiscus, faded aqua, sunny yellow.  Fall in love with these easy flattering styles and fabrics all from Bali.  Two cousins started this store after spending their childhood summers in Watch Hill, RI.

More about Watch Hill ~ an affluent coastal enclave a bit off the beaten path. Truly a hidden gem despite that Taylor Swift moved in a few years ago. Monkey Bread

A Christmas Tradition in our family and maybe yours too!

INGREDIENTS

• 1/2 cup granulated sugar
• 1 teaspoon cinnamon
• 2 cans (16.3 oz each) Pillsbury™ Grands!™ Flaky Layers refrigerated Original biscuits
• 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
• 3/4 cup butter or margarine, melted

DIRECTIONS

Heat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease 12-cup bundt pan with shortening or cooking spray. In large plastic food bag, mix granulated sugar and cinnamon.

Separate dough into 16 biscuits; cut each into quarters. Shake in bag to coat. Arrange in pan. In small pan, mix brown sugar with melted butter; pour over biscuit pieces.

Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until golden brown and no longer doughy in center. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Turn upside down onto serving plate; pull apart to serve. Serve warm.

My Smoothie…yum

 APPLE CINNAMON MAPLE SMOOTHIE

I have tried different variations on this and here’s my spin on the best:

• 1 Apple sliced (not peeled)
• 1 T dark maple syrup (I always use the real thing…if you are splurging on the calories, don’t settle for imitation syrup)
• 1 tsp. cinnamon
• 2 scoops vanilla protein powder
• Unsweetened Vanilla Almond or Coconut Milk
• splash of pure vanilla
• shake of nutmeg
• handful of spinach (I

  always put spinach in my smoothies because you can not taste it, but yet it provides a big punch of healthy greens and vitamins)

• ice

Blend & top with more cinnamon
