I’m happy to bid winter farewell, however Spring can be rough. It rains (a lot!), the temps do crazy swings making it impossible to dress for the correct weather, it’s hectic kids schedules, and then there’s the POLLEN! That is the bain of my existence right now between horrible allergies (I even had the shots for years and still suffer) and the clean-up in the yard and pool. It’s worse than the Fall – leaving these pollen “tassels” EVERYWHERE and they are hard to clean up. I spend hours skimming the pool and sweeping and collecting these annoying pollen tassels all the while sneezing and sniffling…
However, what keeps me powering through all this is that my favorite season SUMMER is just around the corner. Even the word is happy and warm….summer, summer, summer!
Anyway, back to reality and Spring – here are some of my favorite things about Spring:
Flowers – My yard just keeps blooming. It’s really incredible, flowers coming out all over in gorgeous shades of violet, pink, white, peach, and yellow. Every day I see something new and I love filling vases with fresh flowers from my own yard – a sense of calm in an otherwise hectic season.
Breaking out those colorful clothes – gone are the days of all black & gray. Floral dresses, striped tees, white jeans (I never wait for Memorial Day – as soon as I can wear open toe shoes, I break out the white jeans), cute shoes, etc.
Spring Cleaning – sounds like a chore, but you know if you have ever done it, it’s uplifting! Ridding yourself of clutter, dust and other random junk feels good.
Cooking – I’m tired of soups and crock pot recipes. I’m ready for creative salads, grilling, lighter meals, and fresh veggies and fruits.
Enjoying the outside – skipping the spin class for a walk on the Greenway, enjoying coffee on the deck or porch instead of under the covers!
Green – every day the trees get greener and fuller and the air sweeter
