CHRISTMAS IN NANTUCKET!
Recharge and Relax at The Nantucket Hotel & Resort... Click Here
Nothing is quite as quaint as Nantucket at Christmastime!
Cute shops, world-class food, carolers, 80 Christmas trees on display at the Whaling Museum, and don’t forget why you came here…bundle up and take a beach walk by the sea.
If you can’t get here for Christmas, come for Stroll Weekend in early December…part holiday-shopping heaven, part old-fashioned block party, the island’s annual Christmas Stroll brings locals and visitors together for a holly, jolly weekend!
The shops open their doors in welcome. Everywhere you go, someone is giving away free cups of cider, wine, or nibbles of chocolate. Main Street—a cobblestone expanse that fills with vehicles during the summer months—now fills with milling folks who linger for brass band serenades, Christmas carols, and photo opportunities with locals who’ve come out in their best holiday regalia.
How to Get Here- Whether you’re enjoying The Stroll or Christmas, it’s a speedy ferry ride from Hyannis, Massachusetts (hyannistonantucket.com), or a quick flight on Cape Air from Boston, New York, and other airports.

Enjoy classic comforts and modern conveniences in this mountain resort nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Asheville, NC.
With a history of serving guests for over a century, The Omni Grove Park Inn welcomes you with a tradition of Southern hospitality, rich heritage, and all the conveniences a modern traveler requires. Upon driving up to this impressive stone Inn, you are transported back into Christmas’s past…

Kick back at the award winning grotto style spa…there’s even a large hot tub outside with a stone fireplace that is most fun when it’s snowing and you have an ice cold glass of champagne in your hand!
Nestled in the Virginia mountains, this elegant resort is enhanced by a wealth of guest services and amenities. Maybe my favorite of these is the natural hot springs flowing through the area. It is the largest hot springs in the state and is believed to have healing benefits. The resort is also known for its championship golf courses, which have hosted several national tournaments. The resort also includes an alpine ski resort and is designated a National Historic Landmark; it has a history extending nearly two and a half centuries.
There are a variety of other winter activities including snow tubing, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and snowmobile tours. There is also an ice skating rink with a small festival of lights surrounding the rink as well as an outdoor fire with piped-in music. Are you enticed yet?
The Hot Springs – Enjoy the best hot springs in Virginia straight from the source at The Omni Homestead Resort. Two major springs from the Allegheny Mountains flow through the property and allow visitors to soak in the natural mineral waters of our Jefferson Pools. The springs are naturally heated and do not require any chemical treatments.
It’s natural setting is breathtaking, but to see it decorated for the holidays is spectacular! This Christmas, gather your family for a holiday you’ll cherish forever. With old-fashioned fun like s’mores by the fire, classic musical performances and Homestead traditions like our Goodnight Elf Tuck-In and the New Year’s Eve Family Merry Masquerade ball, your stay will be filled with magical memories.
The Inn at Round Barn Farm
We are going to stay in Vermont for 1 more day because really it feels like stepping into a Currier & Ives Christmas scene. Quintessential New England experience, great food, lovely setting, gracious hosts, snow, skiing (Sugerbush & Mad River Glen), cozy fires, comfortable inviting guestrooms with thick down comforters & fireplaces and an unparalleled breakfast with real VT maple syrup of course…what else could you want?! How about homemade gingerbread cookies, sleigh rides, snowshoeing trails? Yup, they have that too!
The Barn….
The barn went through a complete restoration from 1988 – 1990 and now is used for weddings and other special events.
History:
The concept of the Round Barn originated with the religious group the Shakers. Some say the Shakers built their barns this way because “the devil can’t catch you in the corners”. For the farmers, round barns were very efficient because they utilize the laws of gravity. Large farm equipment was driven up the raceway into the Hayloft (top level) for storage and could be driven straight out. There was no backing out of corners in a round barn.
The milking parlor (middle level) was home to many dairy cows that were herded in and out of the barn in a circle. There were trap doors in the floor of the stanchioned milking parlor to shovel manure directly into the wagons waiting in the bottom level to haul it out onto the fields. There were a total of twenty-five round barns built in Vermont, four of which were in the Mad River Valley. Today, there are only five round barns remaining in Vermont.
With a legacy that’s deeply rooted in the Woodstock VT community, the Inn is cherished for its preservation of New England history, heritage, and elegance.
Like stepping into a fairy tale is how I’d describe walking into this Inn & the town of Woodstock Vermont. Charming, cozy, quaint, festive all would be understatements. I cherish my memories here over the years and you will, too.
You are greeted by a huge roaring fireplace in the lobby with plenty of chairs to relax in. The rooms are luxurious and inspired…many with their own fireplaces. There is a spa, cross-country and downhill skiing right nearby (Suicide Six is the downhill mountain). Stroll through the town and its many quaint shops and cozy restaurants. The Inn itself has exceptional culinary choices. Farm-fresh cuisine, carefully harvested ingredients, and regional recipes inspire the seasonal menus at the four distinct restaurants. Enjoy savory dishes from scratch, always seasoned with exceptional, homegrown flavor.
The inviting lounge makes you want to curl up with a good book and a nice glass of wine or a smoking hot cocoa!
